Abstract
In The Indebted Woman, Isabelle Guérin, Santosh Kumar and G. Venkatasubramanian propose an analysis connecting sexuality to a wide array of debt relations, from global financial relations to those with the most emotionally intimate people, including lovers, kin and friends. The authors thereby show that the definitions of femininity and masculinity established in patriarchal kinship relations sustain global capitalist relations, in a way that attributes responsibility for social reproduction overwhelmingly to female bodies and subjectivities.
