README.txt Code for Figures 5 and 9 ======================== This directory contains the IDL code used to generate Figures 5 and 9 of the manuscript: "Cosmic ray anisotropy generated by the June 22, 2015 interplanetary events" by A. Lara, K.P Arunbabu, and T. Niembro, submitted to JGR: Space Physics. The code corresponds to the exact analysis performed during the preparation of the manuscript. It is provided for transparency and reproducibility, in accordance with AGU’s open‑code policy. The workflow was executed interactively in IDL by running code blocks manually; it is not packaged as a standalone executable script. ORIGIN OF INPUT DATA The analysis uses only publicly available datasets: 1 OMNI 1‑minute solar wind data Source: NASA CDAWeb https://cdaweb.gsfc.nasa.gov (cdaweb.gsfc.nasa.gov in Bing) Includes magnetic field (GSE/GSM), plasma parameters, SYM‑H, AE/AL/AU indices, and spacecraft/bow‑shock positions. 2 Neutron monitor data (NMDB) Source: NMDB (Neutron Monitor Database) https://www.nmdb.eu Stations used: ATHN, NANM, AATB, BKSN, JUNG, LMKS, IRK2, KGSN, YKTK. Users wishing to reproduce the figures must download the corresponding OMNI CDF file and NMDB text file from these public archives and update the file paths inside the code as needed. We recommend downloading data that includes at least one week before and one week after the event interval (June 18–25, 2015), i.e., from June 11 to July 2, 2015, to ensure full coverage for preprocessing and context. WHAT THE CODE DOES The IDL code performs the following steps: • Reads OMNI CDF data and NMDB neutron monitor data • Cleans fill values and converts timestamps to Julian days • Extracts the June 18–25, 2015 interval • Applies the plateau‑identification method (derivatives, sigma sweep, median replacement) • Generates intermediate .sav files automatically • Produces the transient‑space plots and time series used in Figures 5 and 9 Because the workflow was executed interactively, the code is provided as a sequence of IDL commands rather than a single automated script. REQUIREMENTS • IDL (version used: [insert]) • SolarSoft (SSW) for CDF reading and time conversion • Public OMNI and NMDB data NOTES ON USE This code is intended for transparency and reproducibility of the scientific method. It may require manual execution of code blocks within an IDL session.
